The Project

Summary

The PALETT-A project (Pedagogical Device with Ecological Intelligence for Transdisciplinary Teaching of Art, Design and Digital Media) represents an innovative international initiative aimed at transforming higher education in artistic and creative fields.

This Erasmus+ capacity-building project brings together 10 partners from 4 countries (Tunisia, France, Turkey, and Greece) around a shared vision: to develop an intelligent and ecological pedagogical device to modernize the teaching of arts, design, and digital media.

At the heart of the project is the creation of “pedagogical toolkits”, innovative learning tools designed from recycled materials (plastic, textile, paper), promoting a transdisciplinary and environmentally friendly approach. These palettes serve both as educational support and as a concrete demonstration of the principles of circular economy and eco-design.

The project particularly targets 120 students and 24 teachers from professional master’s programs in three Tunisian partner institutions:

  • ISAMS Sfax
  • ISMM Monastir
  • ISAMGF Gafsa

While developing a model that can be replicated at national and international levels.

Duration: 36 months (2024 – 2027)

Objectives

General Objective

Improve the quality of teaching fundamental units in arts and crafts institutions in Tunisia by updating project methodology modules taught through an interdisciplinary project-based pedagogy using an innovative, intelligent, and ecological pedagogical device called PALETT-A.

Specific Objectives
  • O1. Analysis and pedagogical enhancement
Analyze the needs for enriching pedagogical content, particularly in the main workshop “Project Methodology” (7 ECTS), with the definition of content adapted to professional master’s pathways.
  • O2. Innovation through interdisciplinarity
Innovate in higher education in arts, design, and media through an interdisciplinary approach based on the pedagogical palette device.
  • O3. Project-based learning
Explore project-based pedagogy (PBL) to develop advanced content for the fundamental units of the professional master’s program.
  • O4. Ecological design tools
Experiment with new tools for design, modeling, and dissemination oriented toward green and circular economy and environmental respect.
  • O5. Digital integration
Contribute to the integration of online teaching modules using the green and intelligent palette pedagogical device.
  • O6. International exchanges
Develop international exchanges to enhance teachers’ creative and pedagogical skills and design a global and transferable model.
  • O7. Collective intelligence
Promote collective intelligence connecting teachers, artisans with diverse expertise, and students with varied skills.
  • O8. ECOLO’INTELLO’ Fablab
Set up three prototyping and technological production units to design and produce ecological pedagogical palettes within a Green Design approach.
  • O9. Communication and visibility
Ensure communication, dissemination, and visibility of the project through the creation of awareness white papers.
  • O10. Administrative capacity building
Improve project management and strengthen administrative capacities for better university autonomy.

Duration and Organization (Timeline)

The PALETT-A project is structured around an implementation strategy based on 6 complementary Work Packages (WP), deployed over a period of 36 months. This architecture ensures a coherent progression from design to dissemination of results, while guaranteeing rigorous management and continuous quality assurance.

Each Work Package addresses specific objectives, with a clear distribution of responsibilities between Tunisian and European partners:

  • WP1: Overall coordination and quality control
  • WP2: Definition and experimentation of innovative teaching modules
  • WP3: Development of prototyping infrastructures and design of pedagogical palettes
  • WP4: Capacity building of trainers
  • WP5: Experience transfer and internationalization of the project
  • WP6: Communication, visibility, and sustainability of results

This organization promotes a transversal approach based on co-creation and collective intelligence. The project timeline highlights key phases and moments of convergence between WPs, particularly during major events: kick-off meeting, international workshops, summer school, and final conference.
